
Roger Beaudry
Roger is a University of Ottawa law school gold medalist with a Master of Laws from the University of Toronto. He started his career as a law professor in the Faculty of Law of the University of Ottawa teaching various subjects including Commercial Law, Evidence and Wills. Prior to shifting his practice to acting as a third party neutral, Roger was a partner in the Ottawa law firm of Nelligan, O’Brien Payne, where he had a diversified civil litigation and labour law practice.
Roger is a Chartered Mediator (C. Med.) and has been on the mediation rosters of various organizations. He has mediated a range of matters, from simple one issue two party disputes to complex multi-party, multi-issue, multi-cultural disputes. His mediation practice focuses primarily on employment, labour, insurance, commercial, estate and professional malpractice disputes.
Roger is a Chartered Arbitrator (C. Arb.) and conducts arbitrations in both commercial and labour matters. He teaches Labour Arbitration at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ottawa, has taught courses on commercial arbitration and has been on the arbitration rosters of a number of organisations.
Roger lectures regularly on negotiation, mediation and arbitration. He has been involved in designing numerous ADR training courses and in training mediators and providing negotiation training through various universities and organisations in various countries. As a member of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice ADR Local Advisory Committee, he was actively involved in structuring and implementing court-connected mediation in the Ottawa Region. He is currently the Chair of the Ottawa Local Mediation Committee appointed by the Attorney General of Ontario under the Rules of Civil Procedure. He is also a member of the Ottawa Estate Mediation Committee, which is charged with overseeing court-connected mediation in estate matters.
Roger is fully bilingual and conducts much of his practice in French.
