
Elinor Whitmore
Elinor Whitmore is Vice-President of ADR at the Stitt Feld Handy Group and is a Toronto-based mediator, facilitator, trainer, professional coach, and ADR systems designer. She has been a member of the part-time faculty at Osgoode Hall Law School where she was on the teaching team for the 'Lawyer as Negotiator' course. Elinor has also lectured at the University of Toronto Law School and at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law.
After earning her B.A. at Queen's University in 1987, Elinor received her LL.B. in 1990 from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the bar in 1992. In 1998 she earned her LL.M. in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School where she studied Disputes and Dispute Resolution; Ethics and Professional Responsibility in Alternative Dispute Resolution; Dispute Analysis and Process Design; and Advanced Mediation. Elinor has attended many workshops in dispute resolution including the Harvard Mediation Workshop; Mediating Interpersonal Conflict Workshop offered by St. Stephen's Conflict Resolution Service; and Basic and Advanced Family Mediation workshops offered by the University of Toronto. She also completed a mediation internship at the Ontario Court (Provincial Division).
Prior to joining the Stitt Feld Handy Group, Elinor practiced as a lawyer and mediator, mediating cases on behalf of the ADR Centre, the Ontario Legal Aid Plan, and St. Stephen's Conflict Resolution Service, involving civil, workplace and family disputes.
Elinor is a Chartered Mediator (C.Med.) who has mediated civil, commercial, employment, workplace, personal injury, breach of contract and family disputes. She is a Roster Mediator, Ontario Mandatory Mediation Program - Toronto. She also acts as a negotiation consultant and personal coach, providing advice to individuals and groups about upcoming negotiations and difficult conversations.
