What education or work-related background do I need to take the course?
You don’t need any specific educational background or experience to take our workshops. There are no prerequisites. Participants in our workshops have a range of education and experience. Our workshops are designed for managers, HR professionals, government officials, lawyers, business people, labour/employment relations specialists, health care professionals, educators, consultants, people who want to be professional mediators, and any others who deal with conflict or negotiate in their work or personal lives. The workshops are designed to help people build skills and develop new tools, regardless of their experience.
Will the training count towards my association or organisation’s professional development credits or requirements?
The Stitt Feld Handy workshops are accredited by several groups and organisations. We will also work with you to complete any self-reporting requirements that may be necessary for your group.
What Certificate do I get at the end of the training?
At the end of the ADR Workshop, Advanced ADR Workshop, Applied ADR Workshop and Become a Powerful Negotiator Workshop, you will receive a Certificate from the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law, signed by the Dean of the Law School. For the other courses, you receive a Stitt Feld Handy Group Certificate.
How many people attend at each public workshop?
The attendance varies with each course. In general, the range is from 15 to 36. If the workshop is larger than 24 people, we run two simultaneous working groups.

Where are the courses taught?
We run our public workshops in or close to Bridgetown.
What time does the course start and when does it end?
The workshops run from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day. On the first day of each course, morning registration begins at 8:00 a.m. There is homework in the evenings.
What does the cost of the course include?
The course fee includes the binder with reference material, any books required to be read, lunch on each workshop day, as well as refreshments and snacks throughout each day. The course fee does not include accommodations or related travel expenses (such as parking) while you are at the course.
What type of employment can I get after I take the ADR Workshop?
The ADR Workshops teach skills and techniques in negotiation and dispute resolution. The skills you learn will help you in your work and personal life. Some people then become professional mediators. Mediation is a difficult field to break into, though. People’s success at finding mediation work often depends on who they know (their connections). Some HR departments look for people who have mediation skills to mediate within their organisation.
