Conflict Resolution and Management Training in Barbados

The Stitt Feld Handy Group is an Alternative Dispute Resolution firm specializing in professional development training and dispute resolution services.

Training

The Stitt Feld Handy Group conducts four-day public workshops on negotiation, mediation and dispute resolution (ADR) and three-day public workshops on dealing with difficult people.  We use an interactive approach, as participants learn by doing rather than by listening to lectures.  We strive to give our workshop participants the skills and confidence to Expect Success.

We have trained over 26,000 people in mediation, negotiation and communication skills.  Our workshops are conducted in North America, Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia.  We have held workshops in Barbados since 1998.

Upon completion of our public ADR and Dealing With Difficult People workshops, participants earn a Certificate from the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law (Canada).

We design and conduct customised workshops for clients in both the private and public sectors.  We work closely with our clients to develop a curriculum that works for them.  We offer a broad range of customised professional development programmes, including negotiation, mediation, and dealing with difficult people.

The members of the Stitt Feld Handy Group are alternative dispute resolution trainers, mediators, arbitrators, and negotiation consultants.

"My organization has benefited significantly from the training.  I've witnessed practical application of the techniques learnt. Personally the training has enhanced my negotiation and mediation skills. I would recommend this training to top executives and IR and HR professionals"
Candace Browne, Banks Holdings Ltd., St. Michael, Barbados

News and Articles:

In Defence of Opening Statements at Mediation
There has been a strong movement lately to get rid of Opening Statements (sometimes called Storytelling or an Opening) at the beginning of mediations. Lawyers tell me that they each understand the other side’s case, and won’t be persuaded by each other’s arguments, so don’t see the point in having an Opening. They also suggest that the Opening Statements will polarize and unnecessarily antagonize.

A Mediator’s Take on U.S. Stalemate
Democrats and Republicans are dead locked over how to raise the country's $14.3 trillion (U.S.) debt ceiling before an Aug. 2 deadline. With both sides at an impasse, the Toronto Star asked Allan Stitt, a Toronto-based mediator and arbitrator who lectures on conflict resolution, for some insight into high-stakes negotiations.

Adventures in moving
Having just moved from Toronto to Oregon, it was a very interesting series of negotiations to get us there in one piece.

Online Dispute Resolution coming
Last week I attended an online dispute resolution (ODR) conference in Victoria BC. One thing that was clear coming out of the conference is that ODR is coming.
